Who I Am & What I Do
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (Lic #77439) living in the heart of Houston. I have been serving as a counselor since 2015 in the clinical and school setting. Houston has been my home since late 2002 after moving here from my home country, Venezuela. After obtaining a Bachelor's degree from the University of Houston I received a Master's degree in Counseling Education from the University of Saint Thomas. I currently am enjoying my new role as a mom and in the process of writing my first book.
As a therapist, my toolbox is filled with helpful interventions and they are used depending on what works best for the client. Whether you are an experienced Gen Xer, a go-getting Millennial or a sprouting Gen Zer, I will hold space with you as you tackle anxiety, depression, self-esteem hurdles, or are simply trying to improve your overall wellbeing in life as a human being. I primarily use a Client-Centered approach as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Narrative Therapy. Some of my specialties include working through women's issues, including maternal mental health, serving the LGBTQ+ community, fellow immigrants, as well as high school and college students.
Like the song says, I’ll be there. Fully dedicated to walking by my clients through that path towards self-actualization (therapist term for “your best version”). I feel honored to be given the trust to explore the lives, the good, the bad, the ugly and the in-between that make up humans. It is a true HONOR to bear witness to the pure awesomeness of growth. In session, I seek to guide the internal world of my clients, while helping them connect to themselves, others and the world at large in a meaningful way. My goal is to build an authentic, trusting relationship and aim to embody warmth, optimism, curiosity and empathy. As a client, you can be YOU. The world is harsh enough as it is, therefore I commit to being fully present and non-judgmental. This is what allows me to be a better therapist to you and for you to involve yourself fully in your healing and growth process. Being vulnerable is viewed as totally and utterly brave in my eyes.
The time and space in session is YOURS.
